This week I was grabbing an early cup of cocoa--yes hot cocoa--after a morning yoga session, and it hit me. Fall was finally here! Before we go any further I just have to clear the air: coffee has never really been my thing. I am a tea lover and hot cocoa lover ALL DAY EVERY DAY!

Here in Baltimore, it's been pretty gloomy for the past week. The weather shows no signs of letting up from its moodiness either. September 22 marked the fall equinox, meaning that each day beyond this we will reluctantly lose a bit of sunlight.

While fall can be one of the most BEAUTIFUL seasons, for some it marks a time of caution. As entrepreneurs, we need to learn how to adapt to the seasons of our productivity. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) can begin to creep in during this time. And with more gloomy days ahead it's wise to take some easy proactive steps:

1. Stock up on vitamin D supplements! (please consult your doctor before starting)

Less sun = Less vitamin D -> Less vitamin D = Less serotonin. This vitamin helps create serotonin (a brain chemical that helps regulate our mood) (Petric, 2021). Depression, anxiety, etc. often occur when there are low levels of serotonin.

2. Have a light therapy lamp nearby!

Light therapy has seen significant findings in its ability to support people dealing with SAD symptoms (Petric, 2021). Plus, why not shine a little light on your day? I got mine for only $30.

3. Call ya peoples!

Make sure you have a solid support system for when you're feeling the effects of grey days. Be sure to check in on ya peoples too! Need a community who gets it? Connect with our yoga wellness community of entrepreneurs and join a sunrise session-- breathe, stretch, and rise with the morning's first light.

Sincerely,
